Recallory is a study library at recallory.app. This page explains what the app stores and who receives it. Questions about your account can be sent to info@recallory.app.
Account
Creating an account stores your name, email address, and sign-in credentials with Firebase Authentication, a Google service. Recallory uses that account to keep your library separate from other people. An administrator of this Recallory installation can see account status and can suspend or restore an account. A suspended account cannot create new study sets or drafts.
Your library
The work you add is stored in Cloud Firestore under your account. That includes:
- Courses, units, notes, and sources
- Flashcards and the review history used to schedule them
- Inbox captures, including highlights sent from the browser extension
- Draft discussions, replies, and papers, including the instructions and points you type
A Word document is read on the server so Recallory can take the text and the links inside it. The extracted text is saved on the unit. The original file is not kept after that request finishes. Public pages and PDFs you submit are opened so the readable text and a citation can be saved. Pages that require a sign-in are skipped.
Study sets and drafts
When you create a study set, write a draft, or ask a question about a unit, Recallory uses the notes, readings, and instructions from that unit. Send only material you are allowed to use for the course. A draft is a study aid. It does not replace your judgment about what you turn in for a class.
If a paper is a research assignment, or the instructions ask for sources beyond the unit, Recallory may look up published works through OpenAlex and include the ones it can verify.
Sign-in messages, such as email verification and password reset, are sent from recallory.app. Recallory does not use those messages for marketing.
Analytics
The app can load Firebase Analytics, a Google service, to record general use of the site, such as pages opened. It is not used to sell advertising. Details are on the cookie page.
How long it is kept
Your library stays until you delete an item or the account. From Settings you can download a JSON file of your courses, notes, cards, sources, papers, and reviews. Deleting the account removes the library and then deletes the Firebase sign-in. If Firebase asks you to sign in again before the account can be deleted, the library may already be gone. Sign in and run the deletion again to finish.
Where it is processed
Firebase may process account and library information in the United States and in other countries where Google operates. Recallory does not sell personal information.
Children
Recallory is for students in higher education and other adult study. It is not directed at children under 16.
